There's one poly 800 with a boss delay pedal. The second is sauced with a reverb (from cubase). Believe it or not there are no other synths involved. | |

I've done your filter-mod with my Poly800 MKII. It sounds great (sound samples following). I'd like to send you some pics, I've modded the case, too. Hope you like it.

I have a poly 800 with this mod too. I have to say this: I'm afraid of it. I used it a few weeks ago with a keyboard amp, cranked the resonance, pulled back the cutoff, and killed the amp. I'm too afraid of blowing out my studio monitors (or eardrums for that matter) to go buck wild with it. However, it has breathed new life into this instrument, and it sounds like nothing else. Put a limiter between the Poly and anything else. Then go crazy. -atom |

So i did the korg poly800 moog slayer mod. Anyone who has one of these synths... DO THIS MOD NOW! My poly was good as sold off before i did this and now its worth every penny and more then i put into it.This synth actually sounds analog now. If you want a cheap analog synth buy one of these and do the mod. I think i like it even more then my old juno 60 now. except it doesn't have an arppegiator. I did the mod and i love it! Thank you for making this mod, it made me love my poly! My poly was gonna be sold off on ebay but i got the nerve to do the mod and now fell in love with it. This synth is dangerous! You can make this thing scream! Greatest news is that i have an analog synth that i only spent 50 bucks on ebay and a few extra bucks on doing the mod! That's the best synth you'll get under 100 bucks unless you want a crappy casio cz synth. My Poly 800 site is www.myspace.com/korgpoly800moogslayermod

Ok, results are good on this one. Of course good depends on whether you value your hearing and amplifiers. It is sick sick sick, and does evil evil things. Messing with this thing for an hour or so, I feel sick and I think I screwed my speakers. Thumbs up on this mod, don't give a second thought on doing this one. Wheeeeeeeeee!! I can't hear a thing. The digital realm is still involved. Go ahead and max out the res and cutoff parameters. That is where you want to start. The thing screams. Like it hurts me, it wants to destroy my hearing, sanity and belief in god. It can be anything you want it to be, from basic cutoff knob tweaking to full on self resonating filter madness. It can reach a point where it goes "Tchkbeoooooeeeeeeeewwwwwkkkkk" and your head resonates. The disclaimer about it damaging amps is quite dead on. I am playing it through a super reverb, and I think my speakers may have problems now. This is something best tweaked with via a strong bass amp cab or something that can handle high levels. I am most impressed, for I have damaged my body! Joel the impared. |

A troubled EX-800 reached my door a while back, and it was sent along to my tech friend for scrutiny with a request for the Moogslayer mod to be added after repair and loading of sys ex. Tonight I finally got my hands on it-not only is it almost mint but my friend was quite adept at adding the mod. It is almost mil spec in feeling. I have to say I never would have though such massive bass would emit from this synth. It is indeed awesome. Woofer blowing bass...I heartily recommend anyone with an EX who has yet to do this mod shed the iron out and go for it... This thing has just joined the K5000s, MS-2000r, MAM MB 33 ii & Prophecy in the task of tweak sweeping through the night!! And what an addition!! Good luck.. |

Another schematic I found on the internet. This mod has become very popular with Korg Poly-800 owners. It was designed by Atom Smasher. I totally recommend this mod... It took me about 30 minutes to do, and it brings out the "analog" in this analog-digital hybrid synthesizer. The two new pots are for filter cutoff, and resonance. The results are very extreme! |

I finally got around to upgrading to the 'Moog Slayer' filter mod. What a phaaaat filter. Holy stinkin crap. |
After doing this mod, the the digital setting for resonance (0-15) now sets the upper limit that the resonance knob is capable of. So, if it's set to 10, you should be safe from blowing anything up. If it's turned up to 15, then the resonance knob is capable of doing damage. The lower range of the resonance knob is not affected by the range that's set digitally.
The digital setting for the cutoff (0-99) adjusts the overall range of the knob. A higher or lower setting digitally will raise or lower both the top and bottom of the range that the knob is capable of.
Despite the insane range that this allows, the LFO and EG3 are still capable of pushing it even further.
